Two Visits to Boston

We had the pleasure of spending two weekends during February/March in Boston.  It is such a great city to visit with small children--so much to do and very easy to navigate.  The occasion for the first weekend was three fold: 1) Kati Vaughn had her last regular season home game at Harvard; 2) Aunt Colleen, Cousins Bridget and John Edward and Aunt Didi came for the game; 3) Garland happened to be taking a course in Boston.  Needless to say, we had a fabulous time visiting with our family and watching Kati and her teammates kick some Clarkson butt!!  Those girls can skate!  Here are some pictures from the weekend.  Pictures from the second trip to Boston are forthcoming......dependent on a charged camera (see next post).

Here is Eleanor in preparation for the trip.  We decided that since we would be using all of Baby Sarah's toys when we were in Boston, we should really bring her a peace offering.  So, we made "Bear Bread."

Visiting with Aunt Didi who was in from San Diego, CA. I lived with the Alfred's when I moved to San Diego and actually, Didi was the one who encouraged me to give Garland (and Navy men) a chance.  Eleanor and ML owe an awful lot to her.  I do as well, for that matter!

Walking through Mike & Colleen's Beacon Hill neighborhood to the Charles/MGH T stop.

Crossing the bridge over the Charles in Cambridge to Harvard's athletic complex.

Go #16--Senior Defenseman Kati Vaughn!

Our second outing in Boston was to the Children's Museum in the Financial District.  Here we are waiting for the T.  Eleanor loved riding the train.

There it is!  We're almost there.  Eleanor was a trooper and walked everywhere that day without complaining.

The water room was a big hit with lots of water tables.  Unfortunately, there were no toddler-size bibs.

Sarah and ML have a grand old time.

Eleanor's favorite was this exhibit.  The floor lit up and music played and the goal was to not get caught standing on the light when the light and music stopped.  Eleanor decided to play it a little bit differently--be the one to catch the light!

Lunch time!

This was a construction-themed exhibit with two Bobcats for the kids to crawl on.

The same exhibit had all different types of blocks for the kids to construct.

This was the bubbles room.  Another hit and again, no appropriately sized bibs.  Note to self...

Au revoir children's museum!  We had fun!

And after a long day with a lot of activity and a lot of walking, Eleanor was still going, insistent that she walk.

But it was a very, very quiet ride home to Longmeadow.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

First....my deepest apologies for not posting lately.  I am a) lazy and b) missing my camera charger.  Ahh!  I have had several picture perfect opportunities but this darn camera charger has thrown me for a loop.  That is where laziness kicks in......do I have to get up from my chair, go get my credit card, in order to purchase a new charger online?  Even worse, do I have to go out after dinner to buy one?  Work does this to me.

Now, why the OCD title?  It seems my dear Eleanor has formed a bit of an obsession with San Antonio.  We have yet to determine the origins, could it be all of Mom's talking during the winter months or all of Dad's talking YEAR ROUND?  Or, better yet, could it just be fond memories of past trips?  Eleanor always ask for good 'ol San Antone.  Tonight we went for a drive after dinner and she asked if we were going to Connecticut to the airport to fly to San Antonio.  She asked no less than five times.  Then, when I tucked her in to bed she said, "Mom, I want to tell you something about San Antonio." "Yes Eleanor?"  "I loved you and Grand Sally today."

And finally, her school project.  See picture below.  The assignment?  Tell Miss Lori and Miss Jen what makes you happy.  And...ta da.....
